Magazine Publications

Most of my publications are online. However, here are a few of my magazine publications:

The November 2006 issue of New Internationalist contains my article, "Free software!" The article introduces the basic concept of free software, then explains why social activists should care about it.

The article was used by the Free Software Foundation in a campaign to convince magazines in North America to cover free software. In the last year, it has become my most widely reprinted article.

The March 2004 issue of the Linux Journal featured my article "11 Tips for moving to OpenOffice.org" on the cover.

This wasn't my first publication in the magazine, but, needless to say, it's the one of which I'm proudest.

Maximum Linux was a short-lived sister publication to Maximum PC. It was meant to have attitude, and was a lot of fun to write for, but corporate reorganization -- not its profitability -- brought it to an untimely end.

I was a contributing editor, and wrote two regular columns, "The Open Road," a miscellany about free software and the people involved in the movement, and "The Toolbox," which covered a piece of free software. I also wrote regular reviews.
