(us!)
Our farm is situated on 5 acres of land, but our property is split by a
large ravine,
giving us about two useable acres at present. As our llama
family grows, we plan
to access the "back forty" and use the remaining acreage for future expansion.
We have a small red barn on the property with
two box stalls, one of which is now a llama
stall. The stall is roughly 12 ft. square, with a
rubber mat floor originally for horses. The girls
hang out in this stall when the weather is bad,
or when they want to get away from the others
and have an afternoon siesta. We also feed them
hay in the barn stall.
On the side of the barn we constructed an overhang.
It serves as a catch pen area and the place where we
feed minerals, and grain. We also feed hay under
the overhang to those lower down on the pecking
order. But the prime eating area is in the barn!
We quickly learned that it is smart to feed your llamas
in the catch pen area. Then when you want to halter
them, they are easily enticed into the pen with food,
you then close the gate and you have them caught.
In the picture above, Beaujolais has just caught Maureen under the overhang
and is about
ready to halter her!
If you are ever in the area and wish to drop by, please do so.
Our llamas love to have
visitors. To find our farm, follow the directions in our (map)
