Books We Have Read and Recommend:
1. Caring for Llamas & Alpacas:
by Clare Hoffman, DVM, & Ingrid Asmus
ISBN# 0-9622768-2-0
This book focuses mostly on the health and
nutrition of llamas and alpacas. It covers such
topics as feeding guidelines, health disorders,
caring for llamas of all ages, birthing, etc.
We found this book to be excellent, and
referenced it often prior to the birth of our
first two little ones this year.
2. A Guide to Raising Llamas:
by Gale Birutta
ISBN# 0-88266-954-0
This is more of an all round llama guide,
telling you almost everything you need to
know about llamas, including:
- tips on buying a llama,
- breeding & birthing,
- care and feeding,
- behavior and training & ,
- uses and marketing.
We
found this book to be very good as well.
3. Llama Babies: Up,
Dry, & Nursing:
by Barbara Norris Anderson
ISBN# 0-9654791-0-2
This was a very enjoyable book to read.
It tells the story of 10 years of llama babies,
and sixty births, the joys and the disappoint-
ments. The purpose of the book is to partly
entertain the reader but the author also shares
her experiences and passes on some very
useful information.
