"I come forth and from the plane of mind, I rule."

Descartes declared, "Cogito, ergo sum. I think, therefore I am." This very consciousness-as-I is proof of being, and is, ultimately, the essence of existence. Prelude to and harbinger of the Age of Reason and Enlightenment? What of the antithesis of this grand thesis? "Sum, ergo cogito." Is it too the child of Logic and Illumination? It is certainly Rational that being and existence (awareness) would precede thinking (analysis). And not Illogical to conclude that thinking arises from a precise, premeditated, even aesthetic conglomeration of countless cosmic --and comic!-- elements (God). This Being / Existence that created all, known and unknown, is called by many names in many languages, worshipped in many fashions (how many "true religions" there are!), misconstrued in many manners, abused in as many ways as there are those who justify the irrational actions and uneducated prejudices (beliefs) created by their ephemeral and unilluminated egos. |
| "...in most cases human beings do not know will, only its impulses, reflexes and gestures. Normally, we are awake in our intellect, we dream in our emotions, and we are asleep in our will. But, it is a considerable liability to be asleep and unconscious in our will activity because our will bears the momentum of our karma. If we do not wakefully intend, then we are subconsciously impelled. We can never exercise free will while we remain asleep to the pressures and intentions of our karma, the accumulated weight, direction and necessities of our past deeds." from The Imagination of Pentecost: |
