Personal Log of Lieutenant, Junior Grade; T'Ana,
Communications Officer, USS Endeavor NCC 1716;
Stardate 7748.6 - Izar
[translated from Traditional Golic Vulcan]
I have arrived upon the Endeavor for my new posting. Though I found my
studies at Starfleet Academy and related institutes an interesting
challenge, I am looking forward to serving on this front-line vessel and
pitting my skills against any hostile entities we may encounter.
It would appear my jungle survival instructor, Lt. Dinas Thieri, is posted
to Endeavor as well. He is fluent in Klingon, something I failed to note
during my period of training under his tutelage. I will endeavor to remain
more observant this point forward.

Staff meeting with many of the officer staff. I took the opportunity to
arrive early to observe and study each of the crew that entered after me.
Due to my early arrival, I encountered Captain Flynn in the briefing room.
and he took the opportunity to conduct my interview at that time.
During the interview, he made mention of a ‘Diego’ file for study regarding
overly-curious communications officers. I am unsure as to why he would have
suggested this, but I do have my suspicions. I will take this opportunity to
act upon them.
Captain Flynn has indicated that I have been assigned under Lt. Thieri to
Communications. This should prove to be acceptable. Endeavor is slated for
departure in four months. I will use this time to aid with the refit where
able, as it would give me an intrinsic study of the ship’s structure and
inner workings.

I have found my leave time upon Izar rather uneventful, and expanded my
knowledge with correspondence courses regarding Cygnan Theoretical Physics.
Hopefully these should keep me somewhat distracted from the boredom.
During the search of Cygnan sciences and applied procedures, I have found a
paper written by Commander Toskain regarding “dimensional physics in
relation to economic theory.” It would seem that some further expansion and
derivations upon the theories presented could be explored further along some
lines of thought, and I have taken this opportunity to do so as the subject
is reflective of my physics study at the Academy.

I will attempt this log in standard English, as Captain Flynn informed me
that he would prefer the use of this language while on duty as the preferred
method of communication. I find this language very... frustrating.
In any event, I have acquired the first of the current crew rosters of this
vessel, and have begun committing them to memory as the opening procedures
for the assignment Captain Flynn has given me in a roundabout fashion during
our meeting.

I have concluded my review of expansions upon Commander Toskain’s paper to
my satisfaction, and have included my findings as an addendum to his
original work. I was mildly surprised to learn that he was posted here on
the Endeavor prior to accepting a position as Captain of the USS Perseus.
This is unfortunate, I would have look forward to the opportunity of
discussing this paper with him personally.
At the time of this log, I have memorized the complete crew roster as it
stands at this point and have begun filtering it through the Kiger Advanced
Psychological Projection Matrix. Due to the nature of the request, I am
unable to further extrapolate upon the assignment within this log file.
Stardate 7794.9 - Izar

In a effort to keep my mind active and formulating, I have decided to reach
into sciences I am only vaguely familiar with. Wormholes are a naturally
occurring phenomena that, due to their unstable nature, are only partially
understood. It is my intent to develop a project that could theoretically
open and sustain an active, stable wormhole.
Stardate 7823.1 - Izar
[translated from Cygnan]
With the construction of the Endeavor progressing well, I have been able to
venture down to the recreation areas on deck 8, making use of the open
spaces to practice some additional mediation techniques.
While the violin has proven exceptional in this regard, I have felt that I
needed something more... martial. The park has been found to be a pleasant
location to make use of the bow. The technique thus far has included the
ready stance and the draw and aim Though I do not release the arrow, I have
meditated on the flight of the lethal weapon and the perceived impact
against the target. This focus, along with the strengthening of my arms and
upper body, has proven beneficial in purging any aggressive emotions,
however slight, from my thoughts.
Stardate 7899.0 - Izar
[spoken Standard English]
Beginning my duties as a communications officer, I have spent several duty
shifts thus far alone in Auxiliary Control, as the bridge is still unusable
due to the ongoing refit. Mostly my time has been spent routing
communications to the various departments, and the external crews -
generally unchallenging work, as the Endeavor remains in dock. I have taken
this opportunity to examine the other bridge functions and familiarize
myself with the sensors, helm, navigation and science stations. This free
reign, as it were, has been pleasant and I should take advantage of while I
can.
Stardate 7957.2 - Izar
[translated from Traditional Golic Vulcan]
Shortly after starting my duty shift, I routed a message through to the
captain from the chief of engineering regarding some antimatter thievery.
While I have endeavored to not make it a practice to eavesdrop upon the
captain’s business, I felt this matter, given my training, was something I
should take notice of.
It would have seemed that the chief engineer felt that someone was stealing
anti-deuterium that was supposed to come to the Endeavor was instead being
shipped off planet and Lieutenant Delora was requesting a security detail to
deal with the situation.
A second message soon followed from Captain Toskain of the Perseus to
Captain Flynn regarding the security issue. I did not observe the
conversation as the incident appeared to be a cleric error and not a
possible terrorist action.
The anti-matter explosion amidst the shipyards was the result of the
security action aboard the orbital platform. I do not know the details
exactly, but accounts relate to a container of anti-deuterium that was
dropped and the containment was failing. It was beamed into space, but not
far enough to avoid damaging the surrounding structures, the Endeavor, and
the Perseus.
I do not think this would bode well for Captain Flynn. I have kept a record
of all comm-logs for the previous hour up to the incident for the Captain to
use as he would deem appropriate.
Stardate 7977.2 - Izar

Met with Commander Flynn regarding the assignment he requested of me. He
requested that I observe another name and record my conclusions, in addition
to monitoring those previously mentioned. I was given a commendation
regarding the work.
Stardate 7983.8 - Izar
[translated from Klingon]
Eager to develop my next project, I spoke with Lt. Delora for a short
period, given that I would require aid from engineering in developing this
theoretical stable wormhole. I am entering unknown territory with this
project, and hope to develop a stronger skill set by at the conclusion. The
Chief Science Officer has been helpful in allowing me lab space in my
off-duty times.
